The events of the past few days, especially with the escaped prisoners, have had all of us double checking that our homes are secured before we got to bed. One Binghamton organization wants to help make sure that our seniors and disabled residents are secure in their homes and so they're offering free deadbolt locks.

The First Ward Action Council is giving away free deadbolt locks to City of Binghamton seniors and disabled residents.

According to a press release, the program hopes to improve security by adding to existing door locks that might not be up to standard.  The First Ward Action Program will install the locks and also look around the home to see what other safety measures might be needed.

If you or someone you know if interested in receiving a free deadbolt and security check, reach out to the First Ward Action Council at (607) 772-2850.
