Four Virtually Free Labor Day Weekend Ideas
Looking for a way to celebrate this long Labor Day weekend? Here are a couple ways to squeeze in some last minute fun before the unofficial end to the summer without breaking the bank:
Make it a Movie Weekend
When you think about vacation, you probably thing about relaxing, right? What’s more relaxing than curing up on the couch with a big bowl of popcorn, shutting out the world for a couple hours and catching up on all of the movies you’ve wanted to see but haven’t been able to because of the craziness of life? That’s right, the answer is pretty much nothing.
Head to the Beach
Labor Day weekend is generally considered the last hurrah of the summer before fall starts and if you haven’t been able to get to the beach, this would be a great weekend to get there. And to go to the beach, you don’t have to drive hours and hours.Sylvan Beach is just a short drive away as are other smaller beaches that will probably be a lot less crowded than the big beaches. Or, you could even go swimming at a local park.
Chill With the Family
The weather will soon turn cold and the grills will be put away for the winter. Why not do it up big this weekend by breaking out the grill and gorging on hot dogs and hamburgers and anything else your heart desires? The best thing about inviting your family over for a big last summer BBQ bash is that you can ask everyone to bring something to eat or drink, which is less work on you and also, you don’t have to get all dressed up because you’re just hanging out with people you’re close to so you don’t have to worry about impressing anyone.
Sometimes the best thing to do is nothing.I love the occasional day when I don’t have anything on my plate and I can stay in my pajamas all day and shuffle around the house. If you’re planning a do nothing day, I suggest shutting off your alarm and sleeping as long as your body needs you to.Put down the phone and stay off the internet and just relax.
