It was the summer of ‘96 and his name was Jimmy. I was 16 and he was 18. I was smitten. He wasn’t.

I used to babysit for a couple who were both college professors and every summer, they’d take their four kids on vacation to Cape May, New Jersey. The summer of ‘96, they invited me to join them. What I didn’t know is that they’d rented a ginormous house and invited a bunch of other family members to join them. One of the family members that joined us was Jimmy, their nephew.

If you were to ask me what Jimmy looked like, I wouldn't be able to tell you. I can’t remember if he had light hair or dark hair, slim build or muscular build. What I do remember is that he had a Ford Bronco and because I was into Jimmy, I was into his old school Bronco.

I remember going home after vacation and telling my mom that I was going to save up to buy a Ford Bronco for my first car. She thought I was nuts, but I was a girl with her head in the clouds.

I never did get my Ford Bronco, but if I wanted to now, I could. You see, the Bronco hasn’t been in production since 1996, but it’s making a comeback. Ford has announced that they’ll soon be introducing a new Bronco and that it will be completely made in Michigan.

Ahhhh.…I have visions of one sided young summer love. And Kato Kaelin.
