Those metrics include album and digital songs sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring and engagement on social media, all of which are tracked by Billboard, Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound.

The 2017 Billboard Music Awards are scheduled to take place on May 21 and air on ABC beginning at 8PM ET.
