Officials are looking into the cause of a massive fire, seven alarm that destroyed a building housing a Hancock Italian restaurant/ pizzeria and a hair salon March 1.

The blaze at the building housing Little Italy II and Uptown Hair Salon on West Main Street broke out at around 12:30 a.m. and tore through the back of the building and through the roof.  The building is a total loss.

Firefighters spent around ten hours on the scene.

Investigators say it appears the fire started in the area of a storage room for the restaurant in the back of the building.

The owner of the pizza shop had just left his business about 20 minutes before getting a call that the building was in flames.

Surrounding structures were saved by firefighters.
