Oh my gourd that's a huge pumpkin! A Napa, California farmer set a new North American record on Monday with a pumpkin that weighed in at a whopping 2,058 pounds.

For his work growing the beast, John Hawkley was awarded more than $13,000 in cash at the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival. Hawkley's pumpkin is the first to break the 2,000-pound mark at the festival, according to event organizers.

Hawley's pumpkin easily beat the competition. One pumpkin weighed in at 1,828 pounds, but was disqualified because of a soft spot. Can you imagine growing a pumpkin that big only to have it disqualified? I'd be livid! Even though Hawley's pumpkin is a giant, it didn't match the world record of 2,323 pounds. That was set last Sunday in Ludwigsburg, Germany by a Swiss farmer named Beni Meier.
