A tree coming down on a New York State Electric and Gas transmission line near Glenwood Road in the Town of Dickinson is blamed for pulling the plug on close to 53-hundred NYSEG customers in Broome County shortly Before 3:30 p.m. June 6.

In addition to residential customers, a number of businesses on Upper Front Street were impacted and SUNY Broome Community College had to cancel afternoon classes.

NYSEG reported the power restored at around quarter of five.

Meanwhile, a tree falling on State Highway 8 in Guilford in Chenango County overnight June 7 blocked a lane of the road and last week, a portion of Route 12 in Greene was closed entirely near the golf course for around 12 hours as a tree crashed down and snapped four large utility poles.
