Some great things are happening at Binghamton's Otsiningo Park Saturday morning (November 12) as the community comes together to welcome back the STOP DWI Returning Warrior 10 & 5-Miler, kicking off 10 a.m and running thru about Noon, with on-site registration beginning at 8:30 a.m.

According to the GoBroomeCounty web site, This event is held to help our returning warriors transition from the dangers of war zone driving to the new risks they face on our public highways here at home.

The day is a fun one, made up of three different events:

  • For ambitious runners, the main event will be the 10-Miler which consists of 2 laps from the main park to Otsiningo North and back.
  • The 5-mile race for those who still want to support the cause but may not be ready for the full 10 miles.
  • A kids run will also follow the completion of the longer races.

Best of all, this great event is inclusive to people of all abilities and regardless of military status. Everyone knows someone who has served or who has been affected by a traffic collision and everyone is invited to show their support this Veterans weekend and to get involved in this important project.

Please come out and have fun by walking, running or even road marching with your buddies. There are discounts for team signups as well as for veterans. Click HERE for more details.  Look for Glenn Pitcher from the Hawk Morning Show will be there to show his support and play some patriotic tunes.
