Eric Church will celebrate Thanksgiving in a particularly special way this year. The superstar is slated to take the stage during the halftime show at the Dallas Cowboys/Washington Redskins game on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 24).

While the country star is sure to entertain, his performance also supports a bigger cause, the Red Kettle Campaign, a charitable collaboration between the Cowboys and the Salvation Army.

“Eric Church is not only one of the hottest names in country music, but he has a passion [for] giving to those in need, making him a great fit for what Red Kettle Kickoff is all about,” Charlotte Jones Anderson, executive vice president and chief brand officer for the Cowboys and former national advisory chairperson for the Salvation Army, says in a press release. “Millions are impacted every year by the good works of the Salvation Army, and our goal is to help educate Americans that every penny dropped in those red kettles helps make a difference.”

2016 marks the 126th annual Red Kettle Campaign, which launches on Thanksgiving and takes place through Christmas Eve, giving back to families in need during the holiday season by providing everything from toys for children to coats for the homeless. The initiative raised $149.6 million in 2015.

Church is not the first country music star to perform at the halftime show, which is a 20-year tradition, following in the footsteps of Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Reba McEntire and more. The 2016 game between the Cowboys and Redskins kicks off at 4:30PM ET on Fox.

The Mr. Misunderstood creator is gearing up to hit the road for his 2017 Holdin' My Own Tour, which launches on Jan. 13 in Lincoln, Neb., and will maintain a jam-packed schedule of shows through May.
