A 17-year-old boy faces felony counts following a spectacular crash in which a stolen vehicle with four other youths inside slammed into a tree in Endwell.

Authorities say the late-model Toyota sedan flipped onto its side after it hit the tree on Massachusetts Avenue near Riverview Drive around 5 p.m. Monday.

Investigators say a 14-year-old girl who was a passenger in the car was taken to Wilson Medical Center for treatment of facial injuries.

The other passengers in the car included an 11-year-old girl, an 18-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Derrick Abney of Endicott was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs. He also was charged with two felony counts of DWI under Leandra's Law because of the two children who were in the car.

The car had been reported stolen from the Town of Fenton.

Abney was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, endangering the welfare of a child and unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

Abney was arraigned and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.
