Today Elvis Presley would have been 80! In his honor, they are auctioning off a rare, one of a kind Elvis item. It's his very first recording. It's an acetate disc, which is the only copy in existence. It has 2 songs on it, "My Happiness" and "That's Where Your Heartache Begins."  It's believed that Elvis paid 4 bucks to record the songs in 1953.

The popular legend for recording the songs was as a present for his mother, who he dearly loved. The other speculation is that he recorded the songs to get the attention of Sun Records.

If that was it then it worked because he was hired by them in 1954. The recording could fetch more than a half a million dollars.

There are other Elvis items in the auction today. Presley's first driver's license when he was 17. A signed contract for an appearance on the 'Louisiana Hayride' radio show in 1955.

Also his first single for Sun Records, "That's All Right." The items up for auction are from a private collection and not part of the Graceland estate. You can find out more here.
