DW Smith Remembrance 5k Run/Walk in Johnson City is April 12th

New details are emerging on the first annual David "DW" Smith Jr. Remembrance 5k Run/Walk on Sunday April 12th at CFJ Park in Johnson City.  The event is to honor the memory of Patrolman David W. Smith Jr. who was tragically killed in the line of duty March 31st, 2014.

The 5k will start at 10am in front of the Johnson City Police Department.  Immediately after the run/walk, the Johnson City Police Association will host a "Community Fun Day" at CFJ Park in Johnson City.

The day will include a chicken barbecue, free carousel rides, face painting, a guest appearance by McGruff the Crime Dog, Johnson City Police K-9 demonstrations, the New York State Police roll over simulator will be on display, music by the Edward P. Maloney Memorial Pipe Band and the Broome County Celtic Kazoo Band, gymnastics demos and Louie G from our sister station WILD 104 will be spinning the hits.

All proceeds from the day will benefit the DW Smith Memorial Fund.
