With October here, there's more scares in the news than anyone would like to hear.  Add to that some scary stats released that show the amount of unneeded prescription drugs in our water and food supply.

Yes, you could be unknowingly be drinking trace amounts of antibiotics, narcotics, birth control pills and other drugs in the city or county water supply because people in our are think it's OK to flush drugs down the toilet.

Yesterday, I was cleaning my cabinets out and found a number of vitamins and over-the- counter pain relief medications that expired or no longer needed.  So the question on my mind is how can I safely dispose of these?

To fight that statistic and many more, a new prescription red and white metal drop box is now in the Broome County Office Building main lobby in Binghamton and a second one at the Broome County Sheriff's office in the Town of Dickinson. Both drop boxes are available Monday thru Friday from 8am-5pm.

Take that extra step to help keep our water and food supply safe and keep the drugs off of the streets in the Greater Binghamton area.
