Wendy’s unveiled its new logo late last year, but it’s only now starting to raise eyebrows. Apparently, the cartoon Wendy has the word “mom” written on her collar.

We don’t know if that is going to inspire the masses to run out and scarf down a Baconator or two, but we do know a spokesman for the restaurant chain says the word was nothing more than an accident.

Denny Lynch, Wendy’s senior vice president of communications said, “We are aware of this and find it interesting that it appears our Wendy cameo has ‘mom’ on her ruffled collar.  We can assure you it was unintentional.” Lynch said a design firm created the logo for the company.

The company began using the new logo, still featuring founder Dave Thomas’ daughter as an 8-year old, this year after the previous logo had been used for 29 years. A posting on the website StockLogos.com over the weekend pointed out that “mom” appeared in Wendy’s collar.

Sales have gone up 25% since the switch to the new logo.  So it's drawn a little more attention because of the uptick in sales.  Wendy's has also changed other things including uniforms.
