It's a night of dinner and drug awareness. It's at the Chenango Valley High School Auditorium tonight but it's open to everybody. It's called "Dinner & Direct Talk."

It's for parents, community members and middle/high school students. There will be a panel discussion, information tables from several agencies and organizations and a Q & A session.

Speakers expected to attend include representatives from: Broome County District Attorney's Office, Broome County Sheriff's Office, Broome County Coroner, NYS Police and UHS New Horizons Alcohol & Chemical Dependency Treatment Center.

They also plan on having an individual in recovery and the parent of an individual in recovery, who will share their personal experiences.

Drug abuse and substance addiction affects all communities and people from all walks of life and economic backgrounds.

Doors open at 5:30 for pizza, salad and drinks. There will also be basket raffles. Tara has been working on one and she hopes to win one tonight as well. The presentation begins at 6pm and will end by 8pm.

Their goal is to provide helpful information and resources to the community. As they say, "Let's help open the door to communication."
