Dierks Bentley Shares a Hawk Sunday Night

One of my favorites shares the studio with Lon Helton Sunday night at 7 as Dierks Bentley co-hosts "CMT Country Countdown USA" on 98.1 The Hawk!

Dierks was in Dallas for the ACM Awards.  He described the artist accommodations near the stadium: "The show this year wasn't actually in Dallas, but Irving.  There were no hotels near by.  So we had a big bus lot, like 90 tour buses all parked together.  We were tailgating, we had bar-be-ques, cornhole, basketball court, Blake, Luke, and Sam Hunt were shootin' hoops, Cole Swindell cruised by, and it was like hillbillies with expensive RVs."

A few weeks ago, when Thomas Rhett was our co-host, he told us about sitting next to Dierks on a flight to Phoenix for the Super Bowl.  Lon played that story for Dierks, and he said, "They took a video of me listening to his new single, 'Crash & Burn,' I'm getting into it, and apparently I have a 'tell' if I like a song, I touch my nose, but I do like his new song.  But we were rifling through the free drink coupon book pretty good on that flight.  When I'm not flying a plane, I'm usually in the back having a few."

Dierks is about to kick off his Sounds Of Summer 2015 Tour, featuring Kip Moore, Maddie & Tae, and Canaan Smith.  Dierks said this of Maddie & Tae: "It's fun to be someone's big tour.  Looking forward to messing with them a little bit.  Wait til you see our crew dressed up like 'Girls In a Country Song.'  Lots of tattoos, beards, and bellies  wearing little white tank tops."
