Visitors at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum were pleasantly surprised on Thursday (June 9) when Dierks Bentley showed up inside his exhibit. A video posted on the museum's Facebook page shows Bentley as he pops his head on top of a mannequin while viewing his display look on. He then grabs his acoustic guitar in the case and motions for everyone to be quiet so the museum staff doesn't realize he's there.

Bentley later signed autographs and took photos with fans who lined up downstairs for a chance to meet the singer.

His exhibit, Every Mile a Memory, runs through Sept. 6 at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, Tenn. It includes artifacts from throughout his career, spanning his childhood up until the present. Pictures from his youth, clothing he's worn onstage and in videos, his acoustic guitar with a hole in it from playing, awards, guitars, handwritten lyrics and more line the display.

At the exhibit's opening, Bentley brought along his beloved dog, Jake, who has been with him throughout it all.

“Jake’s been with me through every phase of my career, since before I had a publishing deal … before I even had a gig, really,” Bentley told a group of reporters. “When I got my first gigs downtown, he’d be waiting there in the windowsill. He actually wore out a little spot in the couch where he’d wait for me. I’d come home real late, and he’d be there sitting in the window, putting in his time. Those were his years of grinding, sitting in the window waiting for me."
