Dierks Bentley Performs Poignant ‘Black’ on 2017 ACM Awards
Introduced by co-host Luke Bryan, who called him "the best host I've worked with," Bentley performed an emotional version of his current single "Black." Dressed in a white T-shirt and light jeans, the country star kept his set and the performance simple with images of waves crashing in the dark-lit background. The crowd could be seen swaying along as he demonstrated his smooth vocals on lyrics like "Make my world go black, hit me like a heart attack, knock me flat on my back, yeah / Just keep doing that, that thing you're doing there, brush me with your hair, I swear / I don't know how long that I can last / Make my world go black, black."
In addition to serving as host of the 52nd annual awards show, Bentley is also up for multiple of the night's awards, including Male Vocalist of the Year, where he faces off against Jason Aldean, Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton and Keith Urban, in addition to Album of the Year for Black where he's up against Florida Georgia Line, Maren Morris, Urban and Miranda Lambert.
He's also nominated in the category of Vocal Event of the Year for his collaboration with Elle King on "Different For Girls." His competition includes FGL and Tim McGraw on "May We All," Kenny Chesney and Pink for "Setting the World on Fire" and Chris Young featuring Cassadee Pope on "Think of You."
