Congratulations to the Dick's Sporting Goods Open.  It won the most prestigious award that you can win from the Champions Tour.

It won the President's Award.  The award captures the criteria of all the other awards plus the intangibles that make it stand out from the rest.  Champions Tour president Mike Stevens made the announcement on Friday.  He said "The event remarkably overcame significant challenges following the floods which affected the region after the 2011 tournament."

The flood prompted a change from June to August.  It ended up with the best field of golfers in Champions Tour history, second only to the Major events. Dick's Open tournament director John Karedes said, "To be recognized as the best of the best on the Champions Tour is a testament to everyone involved."

It was a wonderful event with world class golfers and a first time winner. Willie Wood, who was a Monday qualifier, won his first Champions title in a playoff with Michael Allen.  Congrats to Dicks Sporting Goods, sponsors and all the volunteers (who put in so many hours to make this the fantastic event that it is.)  Looking forward to another exciting event in 2013.
