DICK’s Sporting Goods Open Wins PGA TOUR Champions Award

One of the things that I look forward to every summer is the DICK'S Sporting Goods Open. I love watching the Champions play golf and catching up with people that I haven't even seen from the year before.

My Dad and I have a tradition of watching the final round on Sunday. Great memories that I'll never forget. The DICK'S Sporting Goods Open has meant so much to me and I'm thrilled to see that the recognition they are receiving from the Tour itself.

The latest award is the PGA TOUR Champions Sales Award. The Sales Award is presented every year to the PGA TOUR Champions event which shows tremendous sales growth year on year, while establishing high sales marks across the spectrum of all Tour events.

It sounds like a lot of big words to me so to use a sports term, "let's break it down."

In 2017, the DSG Open increased sales by 33 percent over last year, they exceeded their tournament sales goal by 14 percent. They added 22% more sponsors/clients then last year, they added and sold out two new hospitality tents and had more then $3 million in local sales for the first time in it's tournament history.

In it's 11 year history, they've won 7 awards including the biggie.....twice. The DSG Open won the President's Award in 2012 and 2013. Other awards include the Players Award in 2009 and 2014, which is voted on by the players.

The won the Above & Beyond Award in 2008 and the Most Improved Event in 2011. I'm so proud of this event and grateful to have it in our own backyard. Thank you DICK'S Sporting Goods for all that you've done for us.
