Destination Imagination Semi-Finals at SUNY Broome

Today was the Semi-Finals of the Desination Imagination Organization at Suny Broome Community College. These kids made all of their props and motorized gadgets from little cordless drill powered cars to movable robots by hand to showcase their creative ability in competition to be the best, and most creative groups.

Destination Imagination is a wonderful opportunity to get your child involved in as it teaches them a unique skill set to use in any situation later in life. Problem solving, and using their own creative abilities to solve those problems in a better and unique way. Here's the mission from the Destination Imagination Website:

"To develop opportunities that inspire the global community of learners to utilize diverse approaches in applying 21st century skills and creativity. The Destination Imagination program is a fun, hands-on system of learning that fosters students’ creativity, courage and curiosity through open-ended academic Challenges in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), fine arts and service learning. Our participants learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative problem solving process. Teams may showcase their solutions at a tournament."

All of these lessons are great tools for a child to have as they mature into epic adults! The winners of today's competitive showcase will move on to the national competition!!
