Friday (May 20) was a big day for David Nail fans: Not only did the singer drop a surprise EP, Uncovered, he also announced the release details for a brand-new studio album, Fighter.

Fighter is set for release on July 15; it will be Nail's fourth studio album. The record will include his most recent single, "Night's on Fire," which is currently in the Top 20 on the country charts.

“With this record, I had no expectations of making one, period,” Nail tells The Boot. “I wrote a couple songs that I wanted to go in and record, just really as demos. My producer was like, ‘Hey, let’s get the players that played on the last one, and whatever comes of it comes of it,’ and the label caught wind of it and asked me if we had any other songs.”

Neither a track listing nor pre-order information for Fighter has been made available. However, fans who just can't wait for new music from Nail can tide themselves over with his Uncovered EP, which features four cover songs and a stripped-down version of "Looking for a Good Time," a song from 2009's I'm About to Come Alive that Nail says has "a fantastic lyric."

“I realized that music is one thing I lean on consistently to get me through or remind me how lucky I am to be doing what I love,” Nail says in a press release. “I am really excited to be able to share some of the music, outside of my own, that has meant something to me."

More information on how to hear Uncovered is available on Nail's official website.
