Do you remember Evel Knievel? He had that patriotic motorcycle suit, he would wear before his jumps. How about the Evel Knievel cartoons? As a kid, he was the ultimate man.

I also remember the day that Evel Knievel died. I knew he wasn’t invincible, but that really bummed me out.

One of the other things that I remember about him was the time that he tried to fly across a canyon. It wasn't on a motorcycle but a rocket.

In 1974, he attempted to go over the Snake River Canyon in Twin Falls, Idaho in a steam powered rocket. I say "attempted" because he didn't make it.  When Evel tried to jump over the river, his vehicle crashed and his parachute opened and saved his life.

The worst part for Evel, is that stunt is what he is remembered for.  He couldn’t do it, but another daredevil is going to try to get over the canyon.

Eddie Braun is a Hollywood stuntman and he plans to try to jump the canyon in a steam powered rocket this September as a way to honor the memory of one of his idols.

He hopes that his spirit will land with him on the other side of the canyon. Eddie also said that it's like touching Superman's cape.

Good luck and Fly Eddie Fly.
