Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney met each other six years ago on Dec. 7, 2012, and were able to celebrate this particular "bandiversary" this month in a very special way. On that very date this year, the duo found that they were nominated in the categories of Best Country Song and Best Country Duo / Group Performance for the 2019 Grammy Awards.

"We met exactly 6 years ago, today (12/7/12), and woke up this morning to our first Grammy nomination(s)," the happy musicians noted on social media. "Emotion level: maximum."

It's been a busy and fruitful year for the pair in general, having released their self-titled third album and garnered several nominations at the 2018 CMA Awards, so this anniversary and recognition from the Recording Academy are just yet more amazing milestones to add to the year. The 2019 Grammy Awards will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles Feb. 10.

Dan + Shay  are currently out on the road with Chris Young for his Losing Sleep Tour and will head overseas for a headlining tour starting on January 17, 2019. When that wraps, they will return to the States to embark on their own trek: “Dan + Shay The Tour.”
