I find technology both fascinating and terrifying. I love that I can video chat with my sister and that our kids are able to be part of it since they don't get to see each other as often as we'd like them to. But, there are things that scare me- like carrying my bank information in my phone, even though it's got a security lock.

The newest development in technology blows my mind in a way no other technology ever has. Pay-by-selfies. As in, your face will be able to pay for your online purchases.

Pay-by-selfies is something Amazon is proposing and according to Mashable, the new service will let you pay for your online purchases simply by using your face.

Amazon has filed a patent for face-recognition technology that would use webcam technology. All you'd have to do is turn on the video feature on your computer and follow a simple command, such as winking at the camera to prove that you're a real life person.

Amazon isn't the only one thinking about using this selfie technology. MasterCard is reportedly on the verge of introducing the same thing.
