Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz participated in a question-and-answer session in downtown Binghamton, four days ahead of the New York primary.

The event at the Forum Theatre drew hundreds of people who support the Texas senator.

The "town hall" session with Sean Hannity was recorded Friday by Fox News Channel for broadcast several hours later.

Those who attended the event requested tickets online earlier in the week. A man from Greene said he had arrived at the Forum at 6:15 a.m. - four hours before the doors were scheduled to open.

Several Republican elected officials, including Binghamton Mayor Richard David and state Senator Frederick Akshar, were on hand for the Cruz appearance.

Washington Street in front of the Forum Theatre was closed for several hours for the event.

The visit by Senator Cruz followed a Monday rally in Binghamton by Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
