You may have heard us mention, from time to time, that singers like Toby Keith and Trace Adkins are overseas with the USO. Toby Keith just returned from a tour and Jamey Johnson recently went. You probably don't think much of it, but those tours they do mean the world to our troops.

As we take time to think of, and honor, our soldiers, it's time to give you insight about an organization that helps them.

Since 1941, the USO has been busy boosting morale for active duty military. It is a private organization that is funded by private money only. President Franklin Roosevelt requested Congress to commission the organization, however. They provide recreational activities, various services and tours with celebrities. Bob Hope made this a centerpiece. Today, Toby Keith has the honor of touring to see the troops (in Iraq and Afghanistan mostly) the most.

Country stars have led the way in the last 2 decades. Trace Adkins, Kellie Pickler, former service member Craig Morgan and Blake Shelton are among them. They donate their time to help make a difficult situation bit easier.

To serve those who sacrifice and serve for us is an honor and one that I am proud of our stars for doing. But you can help too! There are countless ways to help the USO assist our troops. The first step is checking out the USO website. You can also learn more about the organization that attracts so many Country stars to duty.
