The National Weather Service in Binghamton says a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Cortland and Chenango Counties until 7 p.m. January 10.

Snow is expected in areas north of Broome County.

Total snow accumulations of 3 to 7 inches was being projected t for areas like Cortland and Norwich. Winds gusting as high as 40 miles per hour are also possible.

The advisory and winter storm watch areas include Cortland and Chenango counties in Central New York.

Travel could be very difficult to impossible in the advisory and watch areas. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving in Cortland and Chenango Counties.
