There are two things in life that I associate with everything- music and smells. When I was in college, a bottle of perfume broke in my car, soaking the scent into the floor mats. To this day, whenever I smell that particular type of perfume, it takes me back to that time in my life and I vividly remember driving down the highway and blasting Robyn's 'Show Me Love.'

I don't know if you know this or not, but just as each of us have our own fingerprint, we also have our own scent. A few years ago, I lost a man I loved immensely.  Leo's family gave me some of his undershirts after he died and I put one in my pillow. Until the scent faded away, I could smell him whenever I laid my head down at night. I felt comforted, like Leo was right there with me.

Until now, all we had to hold onto the scent of those we love who've passed away have been articles of their clothing, but all of that is changing. A French company has figured out how to bottle the scent of your loved one after their passing.

The company has partnered with a lab at the University of Le Harve and what happens is that you give the company some clothing that belonged to the person you lost and they extract the odor from the clothing and then turn it into a perfume. The entire process takes just four days.

But, this doesn't come cheap. The kit costs $609 and includes the perfume as well as a box that has a spot for a photo of the deceased, a pocket scent diffuser, and a silk scarf that bears the initials of your loved one.
