Back when I attended high school at Seton Catholic Central in Binghamton, one of my favorite classes was Comparative Religions.  Learning about customs and history always fascinated me.  One holiday celebration that always intrigued me was Hanukkah.  

This year’s Community Hanukkah Celebration, open to the entire community, will be held on the last night of Hanukkah, Thursday, December 18, 2014, from 5:15-7:00 pm at JCC, 500 Clubhouse Road in Vestal.

The festivities will begin outdoors at 5:15pm with candle lighting, and teens participating in a torch walk to light the outdoor community menorah.  Guests will then proceed indoors to enjoy performances JCC preschool children & a community Hanukkah video, followed by dinner at 5:50pm, which will include traditional Hanukkah foods (including homemade latkes).  The evening will also include games, crafts, dreidels & gelt.

Cost is $8.00 for adults, $6.00 for children (with a family max of $28.00.)  Reservations are suggested by calling 607-724-2417.
