30 Rock actor Tracy Morgan underwent surgery yesterday to fix a broken leg he suffered in that fatal traffic accident over the weekend.

In a statement, his rep said, "While Tracy remains in critical condition, he has been more responsive today, which is an incredibly encouraging sign."

Tracy sustained a number of injuries, including a broken leg, a broken femur, a broken nose and several broken ribs. He's expected to stay in the hospital for several weeks and is in the intensive care unit at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Morgan's friend and fellow comedian James "Jimmy Mack" McNair, died in the accident while two other passengers were injured.

The truck driver charged in the deadly crash that put Tracy Morgan in critical condition has been released after posting $50,000 bond.

Driver Kevin Roper's tractor-trailer rear-ended the limousine bus carrying the comedian and his friends early on Saturday morning on the New Jersey Turnpike. Officials believe Roper dozed off and didn't see traffic slowing until it was too late.

Roper was charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto.
