Love pancakes? Is your non-profit looking for a fun way to raise money for projects?

The 44th Annual Central New York Maple Festival will kick off Saturday April 5th with a pancake eating contest in the Marathon high school auditorium. Your non-profit can use this as an opportunity to raise money, by grabbing a seat at the pancake eating table.

Your non-profit will get to keep all the money you raise and to sweeten the contest, the Maple Festival will pledges $2 a pancake to get your fundraising started. In 2013, $10,671.25 was raised for non-profits such as CNY Living History Center, Moravia Volunteer Fire Department, “Clarabug’s Quest For A Cure,” Marathon Presbyterian Church, Marathon Methodist Church, Tully H.S. Golf Team, Cortland Homer Rugby Football Club, Lime Hollow Nature Center, MCS Girls Field Hockey Team and Cortland County Youth Hockey Association.

So, what's the record for pancakes eaten during the 15 minute contest? That number would be 35 and is held by competitive eater Joe LaRue.

Be sure to include the name of your organization, a telephone and address for the contact person as well as the name of the pancake eater” including the telephone and mailing address of that person. All entries will receive a response of confirmation.

The Central New York Maple Festival will take place on the streets of the Village of Marathon, Marathon Civic Center and Pavilion, gymnasium, auditorium and cafeteria of the Marathon School, Mason's Hall, American Legion Hall and the Restored Railroad Station. The festival will be Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th from 9am-5pm on Saturday and 9an-4pm on Sunday. Admission is free.
