I was in Greene yesterday and a friend of mine called something to my attention that I thought a number of my readers might not be aware of but should know about.  For those who weld and/or are on the creative side, the City of Binghamton has some money in it for you.  In fact, $1300 could be yours for your creativity.

The City of Binghamton and the NYS Main Street Program Streetscape Grant through the Binghamton Local Development Corporation,in partnership with the Commission on Architecture and Urban Design, the Departments of Public Works Planning, Housing and Community Development and Parks and Recreation, is soliciting proposal submissions from interested and qualified artists to design bicycle racks scheduled for fabrication and installation in early Spring 2015. A total of seven bike racks, one per facility, will be fabricated and installed at the following locations:

1.  Artists Row- 201 State Street, Binghamton- Rack theme: Entertainment (i.e. martini glass, etc.)
2.  Artists Row– 196 State Street- Rack theme: Artistic (i.e.paint brush, theatre, etc.)

Pretty cool idea to show off your ideas.  But there's not much time.  All materials must be submitted by 5pm Monday, January 26th.  For more details including budget, eligibility and how to submit your plan proposal, click HERE.
