Lots of new, Tons of tradition. That's one of the theme's for the Great New York State Fair this year. Here is an event that was new last year. It was so successful, that they brought it back this year. I think it'll be a tradition for years to come.

It's the free disaster preparedness training course. It helps you to prepare for, respond to and recover from natural and man-made disasters and emergencies. It's happening today, August 30th.

A free backpack of resources will be given to all that attend. Go here to register. It runs from 4pm-5:30pm.

You'll learn how to prepare for any disaster including a plan for a family emergency and stocking up on emergency supplies.  They'll also be handing out free New York State Disaster Preparedness Kits, one per family.

It'll have items that will help you in a disaster. Go here to see the items.

They are using last year's theme: "Don't Wait, Communicate, Make Your Emergency Plan Today." This events prepares everyone for National Preparedness Month in September.

Today is also Fair's Senior Citizens' Days. Senior citizens 60 years and older can get free admission into the Fair with ID.

Many people have concerns about our future and want to be prepared. This course can help you to be prepared. Remember those who fail to prepare, prepare to fail.
