The first ever Chestfest, an early summer art and music celebration created with the hopes of uniting Binghamton residents and Binghamton University students is scheduled to happen this weekend on Chestnut Street on Binghamton's west side.

From 10am-8pm on Saturday May 10th, Chestnut Street will be closed between Leroy and Davis in Binghamton. There will be 10 bands, three Binghamton University student bands, performances by the BU hoola hoop club, independent hoola hoopers, tap dancers, hip hop and international dance teams, jugglers, poi and fire dancers and much more.

In addition to the entertainment, you and your family will be able to enjoy funnel cake, lots of delicious carnival food and refreshments. Chestnut Street will be lined with tables where Binghamton University student groups and local artisans will display informational pamphlets and showcase their artwork for sale.

Everyone involved in Chestfest, including the performers and graphic artists are all donating their time. All proceeds above the expenses of putting on Chestfest will be split between the Broome County Council of Churches new Grocery Day program for Senior Citizens and Lifehouse’s Youth Services.
