There's a race track in Vermont called Thunder Road. It's a small track, but has seen the likes of Tony Stewart and it used to be one of my favorite places to hang out on Thursday nights. One day when I was driving by the track, I saw a tour bus with Charlie Daniel's name splashed across it. It wasn't a race night and I hadn't heard that he was scheduled to be in town. Everyone was confused about why Charlie would park on the side of the road in our little town in the middle of nowhere. Then Charlie himself stepped out the bus and told us that he loved Vermont and Thunder Road and he decided to stop in town and play a free show for us and that it was going to happen that night. And he did. And it was spectacular.

I always liked Charlie Daniels, but the night he played Thunder Road, I gained a whole new respect for him. Charlie is a monster in the world of music, but has a heart as soft as a teddy bear. I stumbled on this video of Charlie reading 'Twas The Night Before Christmas' and knew I had to share it with you.

Maybe you can make this part of your Christmas Eve and share it with your kids.
