If you love books and reading as much as I do, you'll want to mark your calendar because April 13th-19th is National Library Week and the Broome County Public Library will be holding several programs for both children and adults to celebrate.

Special programs for kids include the following:

Drop-By Spring Crafts- On Monday April 14th from 1pm-3pm, kids can star spring break by making spring crafts including a chick and a flower.

Get a Taste of Girl Scout Camp- On Tuesday April 15th starting at 2pm, kids can visit the library to get a "taste" of what summer camp is all about. There will be activities as well and indoor s'mores. For girls in grades 6 through 9, registration is requested, however they do not need to be a Girl Scout to participate. Register by calling 778-6456.

Eric Carle Story Time- On Wednesday April 16th, kids are invited to celebrate author Eric Carle with stories and fun activities. Registration is requested for kids ages 3 to 8. Register by calling 778-6456.

Crafty Kids- On Thursday April 17th at 4pm, kids can visit the library for a fun craft project- making origami from recycled book pages. All ages are welcome.

Special programs for adults include:

Download Zone Class- On Monday April 14th at 9am, there will be a class for those with a Nook that want to learn to borrow eBooks and audiobooks from the library. Registration is required.

Download Zone Class- On Monday April 14th at 12pm, there will be a class for those with Kindles, iPads and other compatible tablets that want to learn how to borrow eBooks and audiobooks from the library. Registration is required.

Library Knitting Group- On Tuesday April 15th at 5:30pm, there will an open group for knitters of all skill levels. Please bring a project to work on during the meeting. A slip stitch felt purse class will be offered. If you'd like to participate, please call Sherry at 778-6423.

National Healthcare Decisions Day- On Wednesday April 16th at 10am, join Attorney Karen McMullen of Levin, Gouldin and Thompson to learn about legal documents every New Yorker should know about.  The topics covered will include health care proxies, power of attorney, wills and probate.  Please call 778-6451 to register.

Poetry Reading- On Thursday April 19th at 6pm you're invited to join the participants of the spring poetry workshop as they share their poems.
