This Veterans Day, some charities are raising money to support members of the Armed Forces and their families. While many are worthy of support, Better Business Bureau serving Binghamton and all of Upstate New York, warn not all of these "charities" are the real deal.

The mission of the American Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and donor generosity. In other words, when things go terribly wrong, the American Red Cross is there to help.

Since it’s inception in 1985, Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world and now it’s coming to Owego.

The Binghamton Senators are in action tonight against the Portland Pirates at the Floyd L Maines Veterans Memorial Arena. They'll be wearing special pink jerseys as they go "Pink at the Rink."

It's one of my favorite events of the year. The combining of golf, hockey and a worthy cause. It's the 4th annual Binghamton Senators Golf Classic to benefit Wendy's Walk for Kids today at Traditions at the Glen. There are a lot of great things about it.

I've never been part of Junior League but I love their mission of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities. Honestly, I wish I had a couple more hours in my day because in addition to making a difference in our community, I think it would be a great way to meet more women my age.

In 2002, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tioga Country created a local culinary festival and fundraiser to highlight the use of high quality foods produced in and around Tioga County and the connection and benefit between local farms and restaurants.

Like the Harlem Globetrotters, the Harlem Wizards are all about entertaining the crowd using a variety of basketball tricks and alley oops. The Wizards, Globetrotters and Ambassadors are the only show basketball teams left and now you've got a chance to see the Harlem Wizards right in our own backyard!

As you’re driving around today, you might notice Binghamton firefighters on the streets. They’re volunteering their time to participate in the “Fill the Boot” fundraiser by collecting money from those willing to donate. Donations can also be dropped at the Binghamton Fire Department Headquarters at located at 38 Hawley Street until 4pm.

When it comes to food, I like to think of myself as an explorer...meaning I like to explore foods from Italy, Thailand, China and such. But one area I don't usually step into is food of the more refined nature. So for Binghamton Restaurant Week, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try some foods a little more fancy than I'd normally eat.

The Southern Tier loves eating out for Binghamton Restaurant Week, September 16-25th.  Restaurant owners are anticipating the biggest Binghamton Restaurant Week ever.  3 course, very reasonably priced lunch and dinner choices at 24 area locally owned restaurants and it benefits two local charities.

A rainy Saturday in the Southern Tier but Sunday looking pretty good and slightly warmer.  If you're looking for something fun to do with the kids on Sunday, try to Superhero 5K in Downtown Binghamton at the Pacemaker's Stage (behind Boscov's) beginning at 10am.

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge competition heats up locally with a bunch of great firefighters raising money for the popular charity in Newark Valley, Endwell and West Corners.
