The Vermont Catamounts proved too strong for Binghamton University's men's basketball team at the Events Center on January 21.  The Catamounts upped their America East record to 3-2 with a 61-52 decision.  Binghamnton is winless in five conference games.

Binghamton guard Everson Davis hit a pair of mid-range jumpers in the first two minutes of the game to put BU ahead 4-0.  But the Catamounts struck back with with a pair of three-point buckets within a :35 span to put Vermont in the lead 6-4.  They added four more points to make it 10-4 before the Bearcats would score again.The Catamounts went on to post a 26-18 lead at the half.

Binghamton battled back in the second half and cut the Vermont lead to five points but could never get closer.  Binghamton's top scorer, Willie Rodriguez was held without a point in the first half and ended up with 10 points and eight rebounds in the game.

Junior guard Marlon Beck scored a game-high 18 points.  The Bearcat guard was 5-10 from three-point range.  He came into the game averaging just under nine points per game.

The Bearcats complete a three-game week with a trip to UMass Lowell for a Sunday, January 24 game.  The game is part of a doubleheader.  BU's women meet the River Hawks to start the day at 11:00 a.m. (10:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).
