According to the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW), 1 in 4 people right here in Broome County need help getting the food they need to properly feed themselves and their families.

Canstruction of the Southern Tier is back once again at the Oakdale Mall where local organizations have created amazing works of art using cans of food with a mission to bring to light our local hunger outreach organizations and their need for donations.

Canstruction is a national charity which helps hunger on the local level. Since its inception in 1992, Canstruction has helped raise roughly 40 million pounds of food.

If you'd like to do what my family did and take a little stroll through the mall to witness these amazing works of art with your own eyes, Canstruction will be on display throughout the mall until Sunday, April 10th. We loved all of the displays, but my little guy was especially impressed with the "Inside Out" display. It's simply too hard for me to pick just one as my favorite, but my top three contenders were the Clifford the Dog, the farm and NYSEG Stadium displays.
