New York State is allocating $1.34 million to organizations across the state that participate in the Kinship Care program that places a child who can't live with their immediate family into the care of a relative or close family friend instead of traditional Foster Care.

The Family Enrichment Network of Broome and Tioga counties is being allocated $12,980 for parental training, support groups and family assessments.

A dozen other programs around New York are to get identical amounts.

Governor Andrew Cuomo's office says there is research showing children in Kinship Care often have better outcomes than those in traditional Foster Care
