You had your baby two years ago and you're still sporting a belly pooch that makes people wonder if you're pregnant again. I'm definitely not judging because I'm in the same boat.

For the past two years, I've told myself that I was going to do what I had to in order to get back in shape and here I am, still looking like a Weeble. I packed on a cringeworthy amount of weight  when I was pregnant with my son and I refuse to step on the scale anymore. Seeing my weight is like a slap in the face and I find that I want to drown the sadness with ice cream. Obviously, that's a bad idea.

I haven't been workout lazy my whole life. For years, I was a runner and weightlifter. Racquetball was my jam. I had some major problems during my pregnancy which really halted how active I was and then after my emergency c-section, I was just in too much pain to even think of exercising. Then my OB told me I needed to be careful because of a stomach muscle issue and that working out the wrong way could make it worse.

Then life happened. And here we are, almost two years later.

One of my biggest concerns about  working out was my son. There's a reason my husband and I work opposite schedules- we can't afford to pay someone to watch John all the time. How was I going to afford to workout and pay someone to watch John while I get in some gym time? It was impossible. Until I learned that it wasn't.

Did you know that when you join the YMCA of Broome County, they offer FREE child watch? That means I don't have the expense of childcare as an excuse anymore. The YMCA will watch my son while I work on getting back in shape. Oh, but think you can't afford to join the YMCA? You can. The YMCA offers financial assistance to make it affordable for anyone.

When you join the YMCA, your membership includes the use of two pools, two gymnasiums, two fitness centers, a free weight room, free steam and sauna, racquetball courts (that's what I'm talking about), a running track, family events and SO much more. No, really, that was just a small sample of what the YMCA of Broome County offers.

I'm not even kidding when I say that I'm going to take back my life. I'm going to start saying "no," and I'm going to start taking some time for myself. I'm going to do what I can to bring down my weight and get healthy because I deserve to be happy and right now, I'm not. Not with my body.

You deserve to be confident and happy in your body and if you're not, I hope you'll at least consider joining the YMCA of Broome County. You'll have access to  the downtown branch and the Johnson City branch. Seriously, it can't hurt to at least stop by and talk to someone from the YMCA to learn more. And, if you end up wanting to join the YMCA of Broome County, stop into either branch before November 12, 2016, and drop my name. When you tell them I sent you, they’ll waive your $50 joiner fee!
