Being a celebrity today is so much more difficult than it was 10 or 20 years.  There have been a string of celebrity death hoaxes lately and with country music more popular than ever, country music artists have been the latest victim of another type of hoax, a sympathy hoax.

According to abcnews.com, Brad Paisley and wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley fell victim to a scam artist pretending that her daughter was dying of terminal cancer.

The ABC report shows that Brad Paisley sang 'Amazing Grace' over the telephone to a child he was told was dying of cancer.  The mother allegedly used false photographs she took off the internet to get the attention of celebrities she wanted to meet.

Brad and Kimberly appeared on a recent edition of 'Nightline.'  “She used fraud to get him to sing,” Kimberly Williams-Paisley told the TV show. “That was the crime that was committed.”  Husband Brad agreed the whole thing was a sick trick.

A number of other celebrities fell victim to the hoax including Little Big Town, 'Wipeout' host John Henson and reality star, Kate Gosselin.

Hopefully this will not keep other celebrities away from helping those truly in need.
