It's just been announced that the United States Olympic Committee has chosen Boston to bid on the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Boston was picked over San Francisco, Los Angeles and Washington, DC to host the games and so far, the only other city in the running is Rome, but bids are also expected from Paris, Istanbul and either Berlin or Hamburg in Germany.  South Africa has also expressed interest. We'll have to wait to find out who'll host the games though because the International Olympic Committee won't make a decision in 2017.

The Olympics were last in the United States with the 2002 winter games in Salt Lake City, and the Summer Olympics haven't been here since the 1996 games in Atlanta.
