Update 9/3/14: An autopsy performed at Lourde's Hospital confirms that body found in a tree Saturday in Wilmont Township is that of 17-year-old Zamien Benditt-Parkes. The report states the cause of death was asphyxia and the death has been ruled a suicide.

I don't know about you, but I'm haunted by the words Zamien Benditt-Parkes' adopted mom Aelise Parkes allegedly said to WENY: “I know he is safe and this is just him looking for attention and I don’t want to give it to him. This is not a case where he went to the grocery store for milk and disappeared.”

Last week I shared with you the story of 17-year-old Zamien Benditt-Parkes, a student at  Wyalusing High School who went missing sometime between 11pm Saturday August 16th and 5:15am Sunday August 17th.When WENY sent a reporter to speak with Zamien's adopted mom about his disappearance, she refused to speak on camera, but off camera said those words above.

Zamien alleged sent a message to a friend on August 16th saying that he needed an ambulance. When the friend asked what an ambulance was needed for Zamien responded that it was for him and then the conversation ended abruptly. The friend woke up her dad who called 911. Police were dispatched to the scene to check on the welfare of Zamien. When police were unable to locate him, they initially came to the conclusion that the teen had run away, but that status ended up being changed.

On Wednesday of last week, State Police in Towanda changed Zamien's status from runaway to endangered/missing. What led them to changing Zamien's status, we don't know, but it appears his body has been found.

According to a Public Information Release Report from the Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda, a body of a male fitting the description of Zamien was found in a tree, in a wooded area within a quarter mile of Zamien's home. It was approximately 10-15 feet off the roadway, but due to heavy foliage, it was unable to be seen. The body still hasn't been positively identified, but Zamien's family has been notified.

The Bradford County Coroner will positively identify the body at a later time, but the apparent cause of death is suicide.

I wasn't there. I don't know the full story of what happened and I could be completely off mark, but there's something that really doesn't feel right about this story. I have faith that the state police will go over this case with a fine tooth comb and all will eventually be revealed.
