Officials are investigating the discovery of a body in the Susquehanna River in Endwell.

Broome County Sheriff’s investigators were called to River Road shortly before 7 p.m. March 29 by a passerby who noticed a body stuck in an ice jam about 100 yards off shore.

Broome Emergency Services officials say recovery crews were on the scene for around five hours, recovering the remains at around 12:30 a.m.

No other information has been made available as to the identity or condition of the body.

Officials said Sheriff’s department and fire crews battled shifting, heavy ice in an attempt to recover the body.
