Bluegrass Music in the Southern Tier

Bluegrass music fans will tell you bluegrass is one of the most pure forms of music to listen to.  Usually "unplugged," that is using all acoustic instruments, bluegrass has a very high passion rate among music fans in the Southern Tier.

Artists like Earl Scruggs, Merle Travis and the great Bill Monroe, all popularized bluegrass music.  Songs like Rocky Top, Feuding Banjos and Wagon Wheel, recently redone by Darius Rucker, are bluegrass classics enjoyed by music lovers of the past and present.

The 2016 Penny Midwinter Bluegrass Festival Saturday, March 5th from 11am-6pm.  This family-friendly event will feature some great picking at the Vestal American Legion, behind Kohl’s on Jenson Road featuring the talents of Gospel Way, Hot Wings and Cold Feet, Slewfoot, Melanie and the Boys, Traveling Foo Band, and The Young Brothers
