Blake Shelton is not quite finished with being No. 1 right now. This week, his latest single, ‘Over,’ once again locks in the top slot on the Billbaord and Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts.

For one of the song’s writers — Paul Jenkins — this is his second career multi-week No. 1 hit. The last time he took top honors was with a little ditty he wrote by Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson called ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay,’ which was No. 1 for four consecutive weeks.

The song, which Jenkins co-wrote with David Elliott Johnson, was originally meant to be for a rock band the two were going to form well over a decade ago. “He was a drummer and I played guitar,” Jenkins recently told Taste of Country. “We were going to sing and start up this rock band. This is one of the songs that we wrote for the album.”

Those plans came to an end, but the song has now carried on its own legacy in the country music industry after Shelton released his powerful rendition of the tune. The song is the seventh consecutive No. 1 hit for Shelton and the fourth from his current album, ‘Red River Blue,’ following previous chart-toppers ‘Honey Bee,’ ‘God Gave Me You’ and ‘Drink on It.’
