If you're like many of my friends, you'll be surprised at one of the ingredients in my may favorite Strawberry Margarita.  I promise you this secret ingredient will make you one of the freshest drinks you have ever had.  And chances are, you may have some of these ingredients growing in your backyard.

The ingredient is basil and is easy to find in many backyard gardens around the Southern Tier.  The sweetness and tang of the strawberries balances nicely with the basil for a refreshing cocktail that will have your friends asking you for the recipe.  And best of all, it's easy to make.
Here's what you will need to make 2 cocktails:
1 cup of fresh strawberries (hulled), 1/4 cup of tequila, 1 tablespoon of orange-flavored liqueur (I used Cointrea), 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 3-4 large fresh basil leaves, a blender and 2 glasses.
>>  Combine the strawberries, tequila, orange-flavored liqueur, lemon juice, sugar, and basil leaves in a blender; mix on low until smooth. Add the ice and puree until the ice is crushed, 30 to 60 seconds.
Enjoy!  Let me know what you think.
