Like many of us at the Hawk and in the community, we support the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park.  Being the 5th oldest zoo in America, it is important to keep this Southern Tier institution alive and thriving.

The zoo has always been creative with their fundraisers.  Just because the zoo is closed for the season, it doesn't mean they rest on their fundraising efforts.

The Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park will be holding its annual Valentine's Day event, Courtship Tails, for two weekends this year! This fun and often times hilarious couples' event is scheduled for Saturday, February 8 & Sunday, February 9 and the following weekend of Saturday, February 15 & Sunday, February 16. Tours will be held at 12:00 pm, 1:30 pm, and 3:00 pm each day. Reservations are required, and each tour is limited to just four couples (must be 21 years or older). Make your reservations early by calling (607) 724-5461 ext. 235.
During this very special adult only event, couples are led on a fun and humorous 1 hour tour of the Binghamton Zoo. Tour guides will talk about the many unique courtship displays and mating rituals of animals within the zoo and across the globe. Couples will learn everything from the romantic rituals of penguins to which bird attracts a mate by building an elaborate multicolored bachelor pad! There are many other hilarious animal mating facts to be shared!
Along the tour, guests will be transported in a heated van to various stops throughout our zoo. The guided tour includes our Woodland Waters and Wolf Woods buildings, plus behind the scenes stops in our penguin and leopard backup areas! Limited walking will be required, but we encourage you to dress warm. Wine, desserts, and hot drinks will be available along the way!
Courtship Tails is $110.00 per couple for members and $125.00 for non-member couples. Each tour includes the guided tour of the zoo, behind the scenes visits at our penguin and leopard exhibits, a picture taken at the start of the tour with a framed copy to take home, and a $40 dinner voucher to Michelangelo's to enjoy a relaxing dinner together (valid any time throughout the month of February). For reservations, please call the Binghamton Zoo's Education Department at (607) 724-5461 ext. 235. For more information on the event, please visit the Binghamton Zoo's website or call the office at (607) 724-5461.
